Call for submissions to the Tu Mau edition

2025-02-25

Tu Mau is published as a special issue of the ANZASW journal and is focused on Pacific social work.  Tu Mau means ‘stand strong’ (Tokelauan) and since our last Tu Mau issue in 2023, Pacific social workers and Pacific communities have taken the opportunity to ‘stand strong’ in response to a range of national and international forces. Considering the dynamic and changing context in which Pacific people live, we are seeking articles for our next issue of Tu Mau where the focus will be on capturing diverse theoretical, practice and research contributions related to Pacific social work and Pacific people standing strong and adapting to new challenges and experiences. Topics may include:

  • Social work practice with Pacific communities and families across health, education, welfare and justice sectors.
  • Pacific social work education, research and scholarship.
  • How social work is positioned, or could be positioned, to address social, health, economic and political issues facing Pacific communities.
  • Local, regional and global Pacific social work responses to international issues
  • The mobilisation of Pacific social work, including Pacific activism.
  • Research implications for Pacific communities and the social work profession*.
  • Pacific social work advocacy

*Note: Research can greatly influence Pacific communities and social work by shaping practices, policies, and interventions that address their unique challenges and strengths.

Submissions will be considered in three formats:

  • full articles of 7000 words
  • research briefs, 3500 words
